Campus Safety Resources

Our sisterhood is the strongest when we have each other’s backs! Check out some resources and safety tips below that you can turn to if you find yourself in need of support that goes beyond Sisters Supporting Sisters!

Blue light Emergency Poles are housed all over campus. Identify where they are located before you go out and create a path to and from your location that would allow you to interact with an Emergency Pole if needed. This is a direct line to the ECU Police Department, so use in case of an emergency. Use the buddy system when walking at night and stick to well-lit popular areas.

For safe transportation after ECU Transit hours, remember you can call SafeRide for a secure ride off campus (252-328-7433).

The LiveSafe app connects you directly with a live officer if you’re ever alone at night or feel unsafe, but don’t want to call 911 or the ECU non-emergency number (252-328-6787).

Secure your Space: Lock your dorm room, apartment, and car doors, even when you’re inside. Never open the door unless you know who it is

Personal Defense: Consider carrying a personal alarm or whistle and taking a self-defense class.

Watch Your Drink: Never leave food or drinks unattended. If you need to step away, ask a trusted sister or friend to watch it for you.

If something happens that warrants campus intervention or creates concern, you can report it to the ECU Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities through the Incident Report Form linked here!
